The Chinese playing tricks...
I just read this story about the Chinese women's gymnastics team, and the controversy surrounding their ages. Why is anyone surprised by this? Really, a nation like China that cares so little about the rights of its citizens is engaging in fixing the Olympic games? But how could that be? Seriously, we need to revoke their medals if the girls are found to be under age, and sanction China by not allowing them to host any international sports competitions for something like 100 years. Ok, maybe that is a bit harsh, but let's stop placating these people. And since we are judged by the company we keep, why are we buying so much of the C-R-A-P that is being manufactured in China. Look at your toys when you go to McDonalds, Burger King, or even Wal*Mart; Made in China. We depend on the Middle East for our oil, Central and South America for our fruits and vegetables, and Canada for our Maple Syrup (sorry, I couldn't resist). Maybe, just maybe, it is time for us to step up to the plate and start being more self reliant. Unless, of course, that means I can't get strawberries in the middle of winter. Not that it matters in the end...
